Exposition : Le Chant de l'Eau
Representing water has always been an artistic challenge. A source of life, but also of reverie, immateriality and weightlessness, water fascinates artists by the freedom it offers and the technical skill required to depict it. The invited artists will offer a sensitive immersion in this element in perpetual metamorphosis. As in previous years, the theme of this year?s exhibition focuses on a particular aspect of the history of the Abbey of Escaladieu, located at the confluence of two rivers, the Luz and the Arros. The presence and control of water was essential to the construction of a Cistercian abbey. The Cistercian order takes its name from the cistel (reed), whose motif - one of the few authorized ornaments - can be found on the capitals and pavements of l'Escaladieu.
